1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  - New Balance cleats play an important role in softball. The cleats represent a growth in the sport for all athletes. Metal cleats were not allowed for softball players due to safety concerns, however baseball was allowed metal cleats from 1984 for the same uses. The rules of the cleats were another gender based rule, people believed girls would get hurt. Now the upgrade from rubber cleats to metal cleats is see as an accomplishment in the softball community.    2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?  - My product engages with majority of my audience by connecting to them if their an  athlete. Every athlete knows the effecting footwear can have on their performance. Even non-athletes can relate how  footwear   effect someone job, workout, etc. It would be distributed as a real media text as explaining the effect th

My Commercial for New Balance cleats

Welcome to my final product of my new balance commercial for my softball cleats. Im so proud of my commercial and believe it fits the image that I wanted. Even though I had to make a lot of changes and shots, my commercial came out the way I wanted. When filming I was mainly around of my action shots such as sliding into second base. I had to be creative when filming and use my helmet to support my phone at the right angle. Things I would change for next time is to get a partner and try not to over think the assignment. Having a partner would make it were I could focus more on the angles and view of the shot then being the actor. As stated before I prefer to be behind the camera then in front of it. This project push me to edge of my comfort zone and I had to think of interesting shots. Overall, my filming and editing experience was great and next time I would make minor changes.

Final Editing Blog

Today was the final editing day for my New Balance commercial. I have lined up my clips in the order that I want them. My first clip is a video of me up to bat wearing my new balance cleats. Softball seasons has not started yet, or else I would have included more clips. The second clip is the beginning of a fielding scene. Then it cuts to a running scene to show the uses of the cleats. Finally it cuts back to the final clip of the fielding scene. In majority of big commercials I kept seeing this tactic being used. I believe its to keep the view interested with the commercial and it's content.Viewers like a high paced and fast moving commercials. This makes it seem that the commercial is shorter and quicker leaving the viewer not to be mad about having to watch a long commercial. The 3 major shot follow the 2 one is the final of the sliding shot. Next was the tracking shot of me running in the shoes. This was the hardest shot to film and due to being film on a phone lowered t

Beginning of the Editing Process Blog

Image
Today marks the beginning of the editing process for my new balance cleats commercial. The editing platform I decided to use with Movie Edit Pro. The reason behind choosing this platform was because I have experience using it and its simple. I can easily add media or sound by a simple click of a button, instead of having to go through seven steps to add one clip of footage. I don't have a ton of editing experience however based on my new storyboards I can layout my clips in the order I want. Once done with the filming process I gathered all my clips together and air dropped them to my laptop. The next step was to edit all the clips individual. This means I have cut the clips to the size and times I need them. I also have to add a filter over all the clips in order to receive the dark effect I want. I stated in previous blogs that famous brands like new dance and nike like to put a theme into their commercials. The theme I'm going for is a dark tone filter. This mainly br

Final Filming Blog

Today was a simple day of filming. I received my pass from my media studies teacher and headed to the softball field. I was not required to bring any softball equipment to school and dress up in my uniform. Once I reached the field, I to clean up the sets. The gates to the field were open and I had to rake the field to get rid of foot prints. The shots I filmed today contained a pan shot of the field and I filmed a few extras in case a shot wasn't to my liking. I had to wait around a bit because a cloud blocked the sun making the field feel dark.  I waited around 10 minutes for the clouds to clear and began my filming process. The lighting I received was great and showed the field perfectly. During class today I worked on redoing my story boards. During filming process I wasn't able to get the shots that I need so I need to go with my backup shots. I finished my shooting and put everything I used back in its spot. Once the field was back to the way I found it, I headed b
