Intro Blog


      Hello! My name is Taylor Booysen. I'm 15 years old and currently a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High School. I play on the Fort Lauderdale girl's varsity softball team as an outfielder. Last year I played for the varsity soccer team, however now I'm committed to playing softball as a full season. Being back at school has connected me with my creative side once again, enjoying classes like science and art. In my free time I love to go on adventures, play sports, relax and watch films, and photography. Films and shows I love to watch is animations such as Avatar from Disney and Lilo and Stitch. My favorite genre's is action, fantasy and adventure. My favorite genre of music is country, but I'm up to listen to anything. In my future I want to incorporate what I have learned in media studies to my work. I'm leaning towards becoming and interior designer. A job that allows me to be creative and bring peoples ideas to life. A recent hobby of mine has been surfing and iceskating. If I could create a film based on my hobbies and personal likings. The only downfall I see with this class is my ultra high bar of expectations. The work I want to turn is normally done by professionals, that have the proper gear. Currently, I am studying for the AS level of AICE Media Studies. The idea of cinematography and creation of films has always intrigued me. The creativity and imagination used to create films fits well with some of the ideas I have created in my head for these projects. I am looking forward to media studies and having fun filming and creating.

Change of Plans

As the title states, there has been a change of plans in terms of the product of my final task.  I will have to cut the total amount of script to a minimum.  I have changed my aspect of what I want to create and I am leaning more towards a euphoria aspect. In euphoria contains flashbacks with a monotone voiceover. According to an article written about the producer's opinion of the show, " The look and feel of the show are as superheated as adolescence itself. The colors are bold, the score and needle-drop songs are loud, and the camera rarely sits still when it can glide, swoop whip-pan, or spiral. Title Design Research: Thriller 30 days of Night

  1.      How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? Ni- Nine Titles were displayed in the opening sequence of 30 days of Night. Stated in the article on watch the titles," The audience is confronted with a sequence of highly disquieting images that cross-dissolve or fade to black. Details of torn and tainted photographs, northern lights, shadows, a bloody tooth embedded in a thick layer of ice and references to the Alaskan wintercape. Brian Reitzell‘s haunting score greatly enhances the discomforting atmosphere." The titles in this opening sequence are simple in all white, however in all capitial letters to state the importantance. Commercial Group Blog

                  I have come to the decision to create my commercial alone. On short assignments such as the commercial, I prefer to work alone. I have found when you have a group on individuals on an assignment like this one, there is too many ideas and voices to be represented. Another reason I choose to work alone is so I am accountable for my own work. This eliminates the stress of having to make sure everyone submits and does their part of the assignment. I feel when I work alone, I'm the one to have the control over the assignment and can raise the standards. My exceptions for projects is set really high and working with people that don't match my work ethic and standards adds more work for me then what's needed. My personality matches with working alone.
