Genre Research: Rust Creek

Rust Creek is a classic thriller film about a girl named Sawyer who is an ambitious, overachieving college senior who has a seemingly bright future. While on her way to a job interview, a wrong turn leaves her stranded deep in the frozen forest. Suddenly, the young woman who has everything to live for finds herself facing her own mortality as she`s punished by the elements and pursued by a band of ruthless outlaws. With nowhere left to run, she is forced into an uneasy alliance with an enigmatic loner who has shadowy intentions.

Camerea angles used through out the film help the movie achieve giving the audience the emotions of the helpless girl. This is done through low camera angles, POV's, and over the shoulder. During action packed scenes to achieve the rising suspense aspect the common camera angles and movements include POV's, Tracking shots, over the shoulder, close ups, and wide angles. One of my favourite camera angle uses is the creepy dudes POV of Swayer from a distance.

In terms of CLAMPS, the costume used in the film remained consistent and didnt not change dramatically. The hoodie with sweatpants is seen as a travel outfit, however after getting help from the creepy men the main character is changed in a a flannel. The natural makeup adds to the traveler and later has marks from the setting.

The setting and music add to the thriller part of the movie. The location is country side with no building around. The suspense starts when Sawyer pulls over to the side of the road in the middle of no where. The music is dignectic with the static sound on the radio and switching of the channels. The music playing at the beginning is a steady pace, however during instense parts the music becomes much more dramatic.

I like aspects of this thriller such as the great use of angles such as the creeps point of view on the girl in the middle of the woods. On the other hand, I didnt like the use of actors of the creepy men and how all of them are just duplicates of each other.
